Second Helicopter Crash This Week
NATO officials say that six of their soldiers were killed today in southern Afghanistan when a helicopter crashed. They say there was no indication of any of enemies in the area and the cause of the crash was unknown.
It is the second lost NATO helicopter this week, with a previous helicopter was also downed in the Helmand Province. The Taliban claimed credit for that one, though NATO declined to confirm this and Afghan officials speculated it was “technical problems.”
The nationalities of the slain soldiers have not yet been officially released, but the incident occurred in an area which is almost exclusively the domain of US and British soldiers. Reports have also indicated that the slain were likely all US soldiers.
